Menn hafa alltaf verið heillaðir af málefnum sem varða heimsendi. Samsæriskenningum er blandað saman við raunverulegar ógnir, reyndar hafa þessi fyrirbæri magnast í nútímanum þökk sé aðgengi upplýsinga. Mannkynið hefur verið að undirbúa þennan atburð um aldir með því að reyna að finna leiðir til að lifa af heimsendi

Listamaðurinn vinnur í takt við stórslysalegrar frásagnar samtímans og safnar tilfinningumíbúa Egilsstaða og nágrennis í gagnagrunn sem skráður er í hljóð- og myndformi.

Við vinnslu verksins voru tekin viðtöl við íbúa þar sem spurt var um lykilatriði í lífi þeirra og daglegar athafnir. Viðtölin voru að mestu leyti spontant viðtöl á götum úti þar sem spyrjandinn reyndi að nema tilfinningar viðmælandans. Aðeins mikilvægustu og tilfinningaríkustu augnablikin eru valin úr hljóð- og myndefninu sem fæst. Eftir að samsetningu efnisins verður samnefndur lager búinn til. Hljóð- og myndefnið verður geymt á endingarbesta miðli sem völ er á. Líkt og hljóðuppsetningin „Les Archives du Coeur / Archive of Hearts“ eftir Christian Boltanski, með hjálp skipuleggjenda verða skrárnar varðveittar á stað sem ver þær fyrir hörmungum eða hugsanlegum „heimsendi“. Skrárnar verða einnig aðgengilegar á heimasíðu Sláturhússins.

The audio-video installation will be made as part of a residency in the space of Sláturhúsið Cultural Centre / Egilsstaðir / Iceland.

INSPIRATION

Humans have always been fascinated by issues concerning the end of the world. Conspiracy theories are mixed with real threats, in fact, these phenomena have intensified in modern times thanks to the accessibility of information. Humanity has been preparing for this event for centuries by creating various ways of ensuring potential survival.

The purpose of the residency:

Working in the tone of a contemporary catastrophic narrative, the artist will create the eponymous STOCK FOR FUTURE - a database of the inhabitants of Egilsstaðir and surroundings, recorded in audio and video form. The theme of the project will be emotion.

The preparer of the event will conduct a series of interviews (in English and with the help of a translator) concerning key moments in the lives and daily activities of his interlocutors. These will include intimate interviews, street polls - various forms of reaching the interviewees in search of emotions. Only the most important and emotional moments will be selected from the audio and video material obtained. After the installation is completed, the eponymous Stock will be created. The audio and video material will be archived on the most durable medium available. Similarly to the audio installation ‘Les Archives du Coeur / Archive of Hearts’ by Christian Boltanski, with the help of the organisers the documentation will be stored in a place where it can survive cataclysms or a potential ‘end of the world’. Stock will be available on the Sláturhúsið Cultural Centre website as well.

Gestavinnustofan og sýningin eru hluti af ACT IN OUT verkefninu/ Stefans residency in Slaturhusid is a part of the ACT IN_OUT project.

ACT IN OUT er samstarfsverkefni Sláturhússins (MMF), Art Art Factory í Łódź - Póllandi, Carte Blanche leikhússins í Bergen og Visjoner Teater i Osló. verkefnið er til tveggja ára og er þrískipt: dans, tónlist og gestavinnustofur. Verkefnið er styrkt af menningarsjóði EES // ACT IN_ OUT is a joint initiative of the Art Factory in Łódź, Slaturhusid (MMF), the Carte Blanche dance theater in Bergen and the Visjoner theater in Oslo. The two-year project is divided into three sections: theater, music and residences. The project is funded through EEA Cultural Grants program
